16 Simple Self-Care Habits and Routine to Calm Your Anxiety

Prepare Ahead

Set Up Tomorrow Tonight
This habit has single-handedly eliminated my frantic morning scrambles. Before bed, I lay out my clothes (and yes, I actually try them on to avoid last-minute outfit crises), pack my bag, and place my keys, wallet, and anything else I’ll need by the door. I also keep a small notepad to jot down any last-minute reminders that pop into my head before sleep. These few minutes of preparation save me significant stress the next morning.

Create a Detailed To-Do List
I’ve stopped making vague, overwhelming to-do lists and instead break everything down into manageable steps. Rather than writing “work on project,” I’ll list specific actions: “draft introduction,” “gather research,” “create outline.” Checking off these smaller tasks provides constant little hits of accomplishment that keep my motivation flowing and anxiety at bay. There’s something remarkably satisfying about physically crossing items off a list.
